Live in the moment

Live in the moment

It has been brought up to me that one of the most important things that we can do in life is to live at the exact moment.

I have been trying to reflect on the past. I have tried planning every single second of my future days, but nothing has brought me the success and happiness that living in the moment has.

It not only allowed me to be more true to what is actually happening right now; it also allowed me to live every day according to who I want to be. It stopped me from tricking myself and postponing everything till tomorrow or the Monday of the next week.

I live right now, and it allows me to do everything, good or bad, annoying or fun straight away. I don’t postpone anything anymore as I know that the best time to start or finish something is right now and not latter. Neither I think that it is too late to start, it is never too late.

Goals

This doesn’t mean that I don’t know where I am going or what my goals are. The only thing it means is that I don’t try only to reach the goals in any way possible. I don’t focus on future success. I celebrate every day's routines that I complete.

The best way to achieve the goal is to complete a bunch of small goals anyways. That is why I trust the systems that I design and make sure that I follow it daily.

What about the past? I think the only thing that we can get from our past experiences is the lessons that we have learned over the years. For example, if you have failed to complete the goal because you pushed yourself too hard and got burnt out, this means that you can take this experience and learn from it.

But that also doesn’t mean that the past mistakes can be something that chases you all your life. Mistakes are only general guidelines, and you must always critically think of the next decision independent of what experience you had before.

Not only the circumstances change, but people that you interact and are around you also change as well. The situation might play out completely different this time around.

Habits

Habits is something that I follow religiously and try never to break a daily streak of wins.

Right now, I have been on a streak of more than 3 months, and I have no plans to stop.

Not only I am completing the habits that I had set for myself the 3 months ago when I started, but I daily add and change new habits that get into my life, making each and every day different and better because of that.

For example, I have had many books in my kindle library that I got recommended, after around a month of only buying books and not getting a chance to read any of them I have set myself a daily habit of reading at least a page per day. Now I have already completed one book and on my way of completing the second one. This has happened in around a month and would have never happened if I forced myself to read the book through sheer will of power.

Another example would be Udemy courses that I have also accumulated through the years. They have been building up very slowly, and I have always had more thing that I wanted to learn and not enough time to do so. That is why now daily I have to go through at least a single video or a topic in order to tick off that habit. I am on my way to completing an awesome, extensive course already.

The power of habits is free, and it is there for anyone that would be interested in getting the benefits. The easiest way is designing the system that focuses on today and not on tomorrow. Do things every single day that enrich your life, and you will become a better human today and not some unknown time in the future.

Use the power of Now.

Start Now. Get perfect later.
